New Mexico: The Land of Enchantment

Be Enchanted with a Rich Tradition

New Mexico has it all. Be inspired with the high deserts, mountains and mesas, lava beds and spectacular white sands you’ll find here.

Our rich history began when Native Americans settled here, establishing pueblos and the traditional adobe architecture New Mexico is so famous for. Famous explorers such as Coronado and Kit Carson came through, and many artists including Georgia O’Keeffe called this place home. And there’s so much more history you’ll find here. The first nuclear bomb was detonated at Trinity Site, approximately 4 hours south of Rio Rancho. Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs and their museums provide insight into processes behind the United States in the cold war and beyond.

The Santa Fe Plaza marks the end of the famous Santa Fe Trail. If you enjoy life music, markets and lots of activity, you’ll enjoy this historic Plaza. Santa Fe is also a world art center featuring many different artists, galleries and unique collections.

You’ll quickly discover why it’s called the Land of Enchantment! Visit us to see for yourself why New Mexico is a wonderful place to spend your retirement. It’s the place where seniors can build friendships quickly and enjoy the wonderful mountain views and fragrant scent of the high desert!

Experience the Balloon Fiesta

Each year in October, Albuquerque hosts the United States’ largest international event, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Balloonists from more than 50 countries come together to enjoy crisp fall mornings, breakfast burritos and the perfect ballooning environment found here in Albuquerque. During Mass Ascension mornings, hundreds of colorful balloons fill the sky. There are many events to look forward to, from special shapes to evening balloon glow and dazzling fireworks.
